PROVINCIAL ELECTIONS

MANITOBA

THE VOTER'S LIST

ENUMERATOR

An enumerator will come to your home to collect all of the names of eligible voters for the Voters List.

This person will have a badge and will also show you an appointment form from Elections Manitoba, if you ask.

If no one is home the enumerator will leave a "Sorry We Missed You" card. It will tell you whom to call to arrange to have your name added to the Voters List.

If you have an unlisted phone number, you don't have to give it to the enumerator.

PERSONAL SECURITY

It is possible to apply in writing to have your personal information (name, address, phone number) omitted from the Voters List and other election records. Contact your Returning Officer for more information.

REVISION

A revision period is held after enumeration to add or remove names from the Voters List.

Watch the newspaper for Elections Manitoba advertisements for dates and locations of revision.

You must bring identification and sign an oath of eligibility if you want to make a change to the Voters List.

CANDIDATES

To be a candidate in an election, a qualified voter must file official nomination papers with the Returning Officer.

The nomination paper must include the signature of 100 or more people that are eligible to vote in that electoral division.

Watch for Elections Manitoba newspaper advertisements for information about the date date set for the close of nominations and for the names of people nominated as candidates in your electoral division.

VOTING

The Polls are open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

You vote at the polling place on your enumeration record.

If you did not receive an enumeration record and don't know where to vote, phone your Returning Officer.

ADVANCE POLLS

If you can't vote on Election Day, you can vote at an Advanced Poll.

Watch for Elections Manitoba newspaper advertisements for the dates and places for your electoral division. You can also phone the Returning Officer.

Advance polls are open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

VOTING AT HOME
Voters who can't go to the polling place or an advance poll because of a physical disability may apply in writing to their Returning Officer to vote at home.
