THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT

MANITOBA

There is a provincial government in every province.

In Manitoba, there are 57 members in The Legislature. They are called Members of the Legislative Assembly (M.L.A.'s). They come from many places in Manitoba and are elected for 5 years. The Manitoba Legislature is in Winnipeg and the M.L.A.'s work in the Legislative Building in Winnipeg.

The Queen's representative is The Lieutenant Governor.

The Premier is the leader of the provincial government.

The Premier chooses some of the M.L.A.'s to help him. They are called Cabinet Ministers. Each minister has provincial responsibilities.
